Don’t talk to me! Noone talk to me!

Until I’ve finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows…

Happy HP7 Day everyone! People have been lining up outside Waterstones booksellers all afternoon. But I was sneaky. I managed to purvey a fine pirated copy of HP7 from teh bless-ed internetz many many hours before it was released at midnight tonight. I offered it to my friends – though only one accepted the offer – to take an illicit copy themselves. And before midnight tonight, I have already read a good 8 chapters.

And it’s good. It’s very good. It’s less of a mess than Half Blood Prince (though that’s all the spoiler you’re getting).

We went to see Order of the Phoenix this evening as an appropriately Potty pre-Potter7 celebration, and I have to say, it was quite good too! Again, no spoilers – though if you don’t know who dies in it by now, then you’re probably not going to care…

Then post Pre Potter Potty Movie, we went for pizza and waited till midnight, for the stores to open their doors to the multitude of characters, both young and old, who had dressed up in witches/wizards robes, and had stood outside of Waterstones for 7 hours in the cold. Yep, it’s summer here, but still cold.

We smiled as we walked past the queue which snaked off round the corner, all the way round to St Andrew’s Square, and out of sight over the hill. We smiled as we walked up just a little further along Princes Street. We smiled as we entered a smaller, less known bookstore. And I’m sure you can imagine our expressions as we bought our copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows without having waited more than 3 seconds.

*happy sigh*

What’s that? You want one spoiler? Oh, ok… As it turns out, Voldemort is Harry’s father. There’s this big scene where they’re duelling with their light sabers wands, and Luke’s Harry’s hand has been severed by Darth Vader Voldemort, and Voldemort says,

“Luke- I mean, Harry…. I am your father….”

It was quite a moving moment.
